    Install - multiple user accounts

    Hi,

I have four accounts defined on my PC: Administrator (I manage Windows and install all s/w here), "MJ" for my daily use (I do not like to expose Admin to the net) and separate accounts for my wife and kid.

After Phrogram install all the users were able to start IDE, write and run simple programs, but only Administrator could view samples. (It's clear as samples went to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Phrogram Files location that is not visible to other account).

I moved all the content of C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Phrogram Files to disk I: which is my large working space. Then I modified Phrogram.ini to point to the new location (PROGRAMS = I:\Phrogram). Samples started to be visible! Even the Picture Browser shows all the images regardless who is actually logged-in.

But, trying to run any program that executes LoadSprite() result with the message telling the sprite file can't be found. "ShepherdBoy", without any changes, have the same problem.

    If I overlooked something?

    Cheers, KoTo

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

Set the TEMP = to a location that all users have Read/Write/Create to like c:\Temp, this is where Phrogram will compile programs and has to be on the local PC when you change the location of the files.

Oh by the way the folder for your Examples and Media must start at My Phrogram Files\ ...... so I:\My Phrgroam Files\... is what you want.

If you still have issues set the MediaSearchPath = I:\MyPhrogramFiles\Media Files

If you still need help contact Support@Phrogram.com

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

I tried all as suggested and failed.

On some other post I learned that the new version has been released (Walt's post on Nov, 25th) which should read 2.0.2517.21643. This version supposed to support MediaSearchPath in *.ini file.

    My current version is  2.0.2515.19058.

The location: http://phrogram.com/files/folders/phrogram_installer/entry86.aspx holds the same version as my current.

I tried to get one from http://k-p-l.org/Files/PhrogramSetup.exe. and just minutes ago I did uninstall/install (even the file size was the same as the original setup I used before). It resulted in the same, e.g. 2.0.2515.19058 version.

Any clues where I can find the most recent version ?

See this post for more information, 2.0.2515.19058 is the current release version (the 2.0.2517 was a test version the didn't get released), there will be another update this week that should allow you to get this working on your PC

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

I just ended up copying the Phrogram folder into each local user account on the box. If I need to work on some of the kids stuff then I use their account. I would vote to provide an option to use the public( under Vista) user account folder from within the installer.

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

Copying the user folders to each account will work, did you try to use the Phrogram.ini file solution under FAQ?

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

I have installed v2.2 onto my Vista Ultimate system, which is configured with multiple accounts.

The preceding post would have been helpful if I had seen it in the ReadMe file after installation.

Moving the TEMP folder in Vista is problematic, in my case I have a stubborn habit of setting up a D:\TEMP on my systems and configuring my environment variables (TMP and TEMP) to point towards this.  In Vista - you then have to "open up" the security for Vista to use this newly created path.  Phrogram under Vista also requires those permissions opened up and for the path to be specified in Phrogram.ini in the Phrogram program file directory.

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

Installing Phrogram for multiple users should be more straightforward than this. All you should have to do is select "Install for all users". Phrogram will then let each user have his own Phrogram documents, located in "My Documents\My Phrogram Files". This is what it does for me on XP Home and XP Pro, I dunno about Vista but it should do the same. I wonder why Windows won't let you do this.

Re: Install - multiple user accounts

    Howdy

I did tell it to install for all accounts, but to my surprise, it installed the demo and media files under my account, not into all accounts.  Now that I have found the tree, I moved it to a common location on my drive E:, edited the INI file and have tested it for my account.

On my son's account. it works too!

Go figure?!  I'm sure it was a User Error on my part!
